Hi All,
Quick question about paydays in Thailand. I received my first job offer (a whopping 4 hours per week!) with a language school. The hiring manager said they will pay me monthly. They were unwilling to pay bi-weekly when I asked. I have no contract with this company, and hence no recourse if they don't feel like paying at the end of a month, so I'm just a bit hesitant.
Coming from the States, where pay is weekly or bi-weekly, I find this a bit odd... but if it's normal for Thailand then I'm fine with it.
Can someone let me know what is normal here?
Thank you!

yeah, its normal, native. precarious "job" to put it mildly. some language schools are doing bi-weekly now, but few and far between. the vast, vast majority pay on the last working day of each month.
No one anywhere pays weekly (except for paying Mexicans in the USA or Poles in the UK working in the underground economy).
No contract = no cover = you're f*cked if things go wrong. You know the answer already.

Thanks for the great replies! I guess I'll take the gig. I know it sounds dodgy, but I have to start somewhere and I'm not in BKK.
For the record, I worked in a professional capacity for a fortune 100 company in the States and was paid weekly. But I agree that weekly pay is rare.
The language center I work for pays on the 12th of every month.
