assistance in processing your teacher licenses

I have just got this e-mail from a Flipino teacher that I know. He used to work in Chiang Rai and seems to have some sort of a job as a Training Co- ordinator.
This guy is useless as a teacher and is now a training co-ordinator???????????
Is this letter a scam or what?

Not very much money for a scammer. Barely pocket change. Think Nigeria Scam. Maybe this is the cheaper Asian version. LOL
But if you are not his employee, I would guess it to be a scam.

I'd say that if you're outside Bangkok, this probably isn't a bad idea.

I get the definite impression that some Filipino teachers have themselves "installed" in the Thai Private teacher's Association (who are very close to the TTC it seems). So they probably can , in fact, facilitate matter, so to speak.

This doesn't ring pf a scam to me.

Ah yes I know that Abel guy. Straight up guy. Not a scam.

He make a few bucks, but what the hell.

This is the same Abel Cadias who is listed to "teach" us thicko farangs the Thai language (well, alphabet) at the upcoming "Culture" course. He is clearly very well connected to the TCT. Maybe not a scam, then, but he is clearly a money-grubbing collaborator.

I for one am not gonna sit around on a Saturday evening listening to a non-native teacher bang on to me about the Thai language, and nor are a couple of other lads who are already much more fluent in Thai than me. We've paid our money, we want our cheap, nasty, tacky, worthless certificates.

If this has any basis in truth then the reasons behind TCT tests (5% pass rate?) and the course (horseshit) are becoming clearer by the day... get those overpaid whiteys out and fill the classrooms with Filipino teachers (who may have a teaching degree but, come on, to what standard?) who will most definately work for peanuts. Is the standard of Filipino education that high? Is that why their country continues to implode? Is that what Thailand aspires to? Watch your backs, boys, and good luck Thailand.

Decent enough guy but I doubt if he's actually teaching the language component. Check you flyer, maybe he's doing the introduction? No?

Having read a previous piece where somebody made mention of sitting through several tedius hours of a non-native instructor teaching Thai language i've put two and two together and maybe come up with the same answer as a few of our M4's... 22.

Let's hope he's only doing an intro, then. The timetable our boss gave us is in the bin at school and I think the boss-eyed janitor might well have recycled it by now.

According the the TIMSS reports, Philipino students score consistently among the lowest 5 countries in the world in science and mathematics. Perhaps, then, the savings they make employing their teachers is a false economy. They'd be much better off with good Thai teachers...

Like I said, it's unlikely he's the presenter.

In my mind there is probably a possible conflict of interest case involved where somebody who is sitting on the board of an agency who are contracted to teach the course, is also offering to process the applications.

Being Thailand though, this is probably very small potatoes.

Hahahaha! Will serve 'em right if that's the road they choose to take.

"Conflict of interest"... i'll have to ask my (smart) M6's if there's such a concept in Thailand.

You have only worked for competent organizations then. Think any enormous inefficient government bureaucracy that changes Leaders and all senior posts with each change of PM and you might get the picture.

    So yes copy everything.
