Way Too Little Pay for English Speaking Professionals.

    Bangkok

Full Time ............. wanted urgently ...... in Bangkok area, salary at least 15,000 baht per month, only experienced profession [sic] (nationality removed) English speakers should apply.
Yeah, Right. Sad pay. Sad post.

If you expect Professional English Speaking Staff, then reflect it in the salary.

Came from the Job board here. No missing zeros. Fifteen thousand baht a month. Shame, Shame.

Are there any actual qualification requirements in this ad?

^ Yeah, must not stink of pot and should only be mildly buzzed from the night before.

Who cares? It's not like you are going to drop everything right now to fax 'em your resume.

For your 2 dollars an hour you are going to have to administer and run the HR, Admin, and Sales side of some language school.

You need to speak, read, and write fluent English; but you can look Asian (but not Thai.) Go figure. So much for non-discrimination polices in HR.

I just want to ask how can anyone survive on these pays. I know the cost of living is minimum but realistically how can anyone do it? I guess you have to be good at budgeting. As I remembered the last time I was there (I spent a semseter studying there in BKK) a really small studio cost 15000 bath.

I'm going to guess that the 'nationality removed' wasn't UK, US, Canadian, Aus, NZ or even Irish!

Re: Way Too little Pay for English Speaking Professionals.

A professional person for 15,000 baht a month? Then they probably won't fill the position and that's the end of that.

I had quite a ding-dong (by e-mail) with the woman who constantly advertises 200 baht an hour jobs on ajarn.com for chess teachers, piano teachers and all sorts. I accused her of 'wasting everyone's time'.

Lo and behold, she's put the ad up again.

Some people will never learn. They don't want to learn. They don't even want to listen.

If there are people out there who want to go through life as idiots, then I'm not going to stand in their way.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.

Charge her 10B per ad and she'll go away.

^ Or set some higher quality control standards for allowing people to post job ads on ajarn.com. If they don't meet the minimum requirements then they can't post --- it's that simple.
