I am totally with you on that, never found an agency or newspaper ad that told the truth. The Ajarn jobs were quick and easy to sus out, my current school position was through a very brief ad on the board.

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
It's a mixed bag here. Ajarn attacts certain types of people who want to work here in Thailand, but on the other hand. I do see some of the more professional schools going onto sites such as jobsdb.com to look for applicants.

Are you serious? Jobsdb.com is a website for Thai jobseekers. It doesn't even have a teaching section.
There is an education section but I just looked and there isn't a single job in it, let alone a teaching job.
If there are teaching jobs on there, then they're extremely well hidden.

I agree and have had many good experiences using the jobs board. Don't know what I'd do without it, frankly.

Yes, I am serious. I have signed up on that site to see who is looking for teachers. Most of the posts are from not schools, but major companis such as TIPCO, Wall Street, and etc. I did some work for TIPCO awhile back and I asked one of the Human Resources personal, why did they not look on ajarn.com. His reply was that ajarn.com does not have the kind of personal they want, and view it is a packpackers site. So, they have used JobsDB.com to get what they want.
JobsDB.com has both a Thai and English area and you can select it from the main menu, tough it is geared towards primarly thai.

Then I assume your Tipco contact is a farang. I wouldn't expect any Thai in a HR 'personal' capacity to know ajarn.com at all, let alone be able to have a debate on whether it's a backpacker's site or not. Actually, I'm quite chuffed at the thought of ajarn.com being known and recognized in the hallowed meeting rooms of Tipco Tower.
I tried to sell educational software to Tipco about three years ago. The company was as tight as a duck's arse with its training budget back then so I'll take a shot and guess that things haven't changed.
So go back to the HR guy and tell him that if he's looking for a corporate teacher that's willing to work for 1000 baht an hour (which is probably what Tipco would like to pay) then we've probably got plenty.

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
They (Tipco) sure have plenty of money to build a beautiful green glass tower though. I agree with Phil. Most Thai HR and School Admin types that I know don't have the slightest clue as to how to read farang teacher's job response or resume and be able to tell who is for real and who is full of shite.

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
I only used them as an example, but that site does have quite a few postings from companies looking for native speakers to do their corp. training programs and etc.

I like their Valencia Squeeze juice......but their regular fruit juice selection tastes like Happy Shopper squash.

Yeah. Tell 'em I'm ready when they are.

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
Once we have exhausted the friendship network and even our DOS's sister's ex-boyfriend's dog walker's mother's first husband doesn't want a job, we reluctantly advertise on Ajarn. I have to say that the vast majority of applications don't meet even the most minimum of standards, but when you need a teacher, you need a teacher....and we need one now, so check out the adverts and apply!

So reading between the lines, you're offering 20K out in the sticks or in the midst of the southern war zone?

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
In July, my wife, and yes I know she's a female and had just completed her CELTA which dramatically increases her employability, was indundated, and I DO mean inundated with phone calls and emails - main problem was sorting the good ones.

Re: Ajarn Job Posting
There's a job on there now, but they haven't told the person in question that his job is up for grabs haha, so I told him instead.
I figured that would be the decent thing to do.
