In all honesty, there is no solution! any system employed to try and highlight these people could in all honesty be circumvented. I am all in favour of the idea that anyone convicted of kiddie fiddling or for that matter any sexcrime, should be incarcerated for a fixed period of at least 100 years, in a small wooden box six feet under the ground. But that would only deal with those who get caught.
What to do about the rest? in all honesty I wish I knew.
Like I said earlier as far as I know it is LAW for people to have a criminal background check before gaining work as a teacher, if its not how about making it law and enforcing it?
DE you're talking about Thailand ffs, NOTHING is enforced here! Do you honestly think that a few farrangs moaning will make the slightest difference?
I'm all for background checks etc (my school has them) but the majority of schools here just don't care n neither do the police. You're better off pounding your head against a wall then you are trying to get Thailand to change.

Jesus fucking H Christ - is there a doctor in the house? Hell, even a vet will do. KS, you just typed 6 lines with neither an insult or a dig. Whats wrong with you? 6 months tolive? Won the lottery? Your pussy stopped hurting? What man, what?
Surely your telling off hasnt worked?
You misunderstand mate - I arrived in Thailand at 20 and I realise nothing is enforced. Im just all for seeing AUA police itself and see a few others follow. Afterall, its the 'best' language school, isnt it?

6 lines? what are you running? a 12 inch screen?
However nothing wrong at all, you asked a halfway decent question that deserved a haveway decent answer, sorry you will not be getting a fuller answer anytime in the near future.
What telling off? Its a cert I did not get one, though I do believe that someonewe both know got a new asshole ripped.

That's more like it KS - I prefer it much more when your pussy hurts rather than when you are being reasonable![]()

Interesting snippet of info about the UK here – Yeh, yeh, I know………. Thailand isn’t the UK.
For those who can be arsed:
Following the Soham murder case, the Home Secretary asked Sir Michael Bichard to lead an independent inquiry into child protection measures, record keeping, vetting and information sharing.
The report of Sir Michael's inquiry was published in June 2004. He made 31 recommendations, 8 of which fell to the DfES to take action on. Sir Michael published the final version of his inquiry report on 15 March 2005.

Beverley Hughes, Minister for Children, Young People and Families and Jim Knight, Minster for Schools wrote to all head teachers setting out, how record-keeping in relation to recruitment checks carried out by schools should be improved.

Jeanette Pugh and Andrew McCully, Directors of the Safeguarding and School Workforce Groups at the DfES respectively, wrote again to all head teachers with details of how schools should undertake to strengthen record-keeping procedures

I think it's a brilliant idea having personally seen right in front of me a "paedo in action" many years ago at "this" school I was working at.
But... it won't won't work in Thailand. Not to mention the extra hassles teachers will get.
My two cents
Excellent post. Totally agree with you.

I am afraid AUA isn't the best language school in los. It's the British Council that is numero uno. No offence.

I think the only feasible solution is an international agreement that anyone convicted of a sex crime should have it noted in their passport. In fact, why not list any major crime (felony) conviction in people's passports?
And that still doesn't cover people convicted of crimes in countries other than the one that issues the passport.
