    My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

The agency which placed me in a government-school doesn't give me any salary slips. I tried to complain, but it was ignored. I wouldn't complain if they would just transfer my whole salary, but they deduct some money for tax. They didn't even have my tax-ID. This is so weird. Since my school is in the woods I have a hard time to find out how much tax was taken from my salary. Does anyone experienced something similar? Can this be legal?
    Thanks in advance.

Don't complain. First politely request, then firmly tell them what will happen, finally demand.

Tell the administration that your brother (or some other family member) is a tax attorney and he needs these slips ASAP!!

You know what your salary is I presume. So you should be able to figure out how much tax they are deducting.

Country pumpkins can be pretty ignorant of these matters when it comes to foreign teachers.

Like Jimbo says, you're probably going to have to push. Good luck.

My understanding is that your work permit comes from the people you are working for. Did you sign a contract with the school or an agency? If the money comes from the agency, then they should be the ones taking the tax and giving you a tax record. That's how it works with me. And if the agency is paying you and you're complaining to your school, then I think your school has a right to be confused about this matter.

Re: My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

I am paid by the bangkok agency. I wouldn't complain to the school. I requestet the salary-slips already. The second time I actually demanded them, but nothing happened so far. As I mentioned before, the agency is ignoring my request. I believe they must give it to me, but I'm not sure.

PS: I have the feeling in my guts that this is aimed to cash in the tax-money of the one-year-teachers who are leaving after 11 month for their home countries und don't bother to think that they are probably entitled for a refund. I know I am negativ now, but I live here for 13 years!

Do you have a WP and visa saying you work for your school? It's a rather important point.

Re: My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

Yes, WP and Visa-Extention are from the school. But I got a contract with the agency in BKK. Money also comes from that agency. This agency is doing actually nothing at all, but making every month 11 grant on me.

Course not. You have to presume they're fiddling the taxes if they're not being completely transparent.

OK, so you're legal. Then there are two choices here, 1 your agency is incompetent or 2 the are cheating you and not really paying your taxes. Does your contract with them say that will deduct and then pay your taxes for you? Also you wrote that they didn't have your tax ID card, but they do have the number, right?

If you have lived here for 13 years but now work for an agency, and put up with this shit, well what hope is there? If you don't have a tax number or work permit, I'd guess someone is pocketing the money. Give them some bullshit story about why you need the pay slips, and if they don't give them to you why not visit the tax office or department of labor?

Re: My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

@Berry Goose: There is nothing about taxes in the contract. They never asked about the tax-ID. Now they do after I complained.

@Lemmax: This is my third teaching-job and my first go with an agency. How could I have known? I'll do my time and wont renew this contract with them.

Agencys are responsible for hundreds of jobs. Are they all bad? I saw it as a good idea because I didn't want to travel through the country all day just to find out that I don't like the school. They explain everthing to you. You make up your mind and then there is a short visit (with lunch) at the school. The idea is pretty cool. But I figure after two month that the school insn't great and the agency neither.

Fastanne, I find it utterly amazing that you weren't aware of the bad reputation that most agencies have here in Thailand, but now that you are aware of the facts I suggest that you press for what you want (e.g. pay slips and other documentation) or move on ASAP. Are you aware that your agency is making a mint for doing virtually nothing? That's money that should be going to teachers, not agencies.

Re: My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

If you want to press the point go to the local tax office and have them phone the agency.

As a previous poster said, agencies are notorious for this. Chances are that they are not only (rightfully) pocketing the agency fee but your tax dollars as well.

Re: My teacher-agency provides no salary-slip

    Update:

I asked very politly several times and was ignored. Then I started to demand the slips with no reaction either. After that I was demanding firmly and made clear that I would walk if nothing happens. This time there was a reaction. Instead auf getting the current slip and the slips for the past 2 month I received an email with the headline salary-slip. This email just stated my salary. I wasn't satisfied with this kind of handling and quit the job. Now I am a very proud but jobless teacher! Please wish me luck to find a better job and I promise to stay this time away from teacher-agencys.
