Daniel Bedingfield claimed that his new album is what it would sound like if Sting, Stevie Wonder and Micheal Jackson were in a basement together - I haven't got the album so I'll have to imagine the sound of a blind bloke and a Geordie kicking the shit out of a pedophile.
Try "Basement Tape" a BKK indie band with a farang in it.
If you know what the name is a reference to you'll dig it.
Maybe even if you don't. Good luck finding work Brock.

Too long in Exile, too long not singing my song.
Too long like a rolling stone, Too long in exile
Too long in Exile, baby you just arent my friend.
Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
Referencing The Band and Bobby D's collab on the "Basement Tapes"
Matthew- If we don't find a job here in the next couple weeks, BKK isn't out of the cards. We wanted to give it another shot anyhow. Krabi is wonderful though. If we head back to BKK you will be the first person we call, we had a good time hanging with you and the lady and plan to do it again next time we come in town!
I am reading a lot about the RCA district- What's the story? Kind hip area or something?

RCA is SHIT imo, it's waaay too loud and the DJ is usually shit. I like the beach restaurant near there though, tis where I ended up on my 21st.
I was under the impression that RCA is an area, no?
I dig the basement tape- compared to other thai bands Ive heard its more in the vein of what I like
I've always considered a dump, good if you are pissed, want to damage your hearing and want to listen to pure crap.
so RCA is an actual venue, not like a strip of venues?
I know of some decent bands that play punk here, they're not Thai but still good. Have a search for a SA band called Sibling Rivalry. They live in BKK and play quite often.I want to hear some Thai Punk or something. I would imagine BKK is where to find it?
also really into like Experimental/folk/electronic type stuff Animal Collective esque
Also crunchy electro like MSTRKRFT and Daft Punk
Royal City Avenue its a strip of clubs and joints.
I must admit that I was a little confused but I remembered my doctor's sound advice to me, 'You're never lonely with schizaphrenia' (sure the spelling's wrong but I like to live dangerously)
If I were you, I would get myself to Samsen Rd, which is a 5 min walk from Khao San Rd and try soi 7 and the M&N Mansions. If you get one facing the river around the top floor (you should go for the corner) you'd get a world leading kick-ass view for around 9000bt (well that was about ten years ago so the price may have changed a little).
There is a fantastic live band venue called Adhoc- great R&B, jazz and blues. The whole area is alive with the very people you describe. Forget about the hard time people give you on forums about being a backpacker - they are God's chosen ones. Apart from the shot-away Vietnam vets most people on this forum would never be here if we hadn't opened the place up.
So don't dawdle - get your ass up there and join the party.
cheers![]()
