So basically you don't really know then??? LoL! So much for it being easy to find a 'reasonable' job and yet you have no idea what a reasonable job is
I regard job as a reasonable one "as long as the enjoyment (other factors included) outnumbers the boredom and dis-satisfaction it should be regarded as reasonable / good job".

Exact figures please for a job YOU think is 'reasonable'. Shouldn't be too hard...well
I can't be bothered with figures mate. I ain't looking for a job but if ever I need a teaching job then I'll certainly do this calculation and will pass it on to you.

And that will give the exact hourly rate, plus perks, plus cost of potential Visa runs etc.
It will not give you the exact hourly rate in a year but caluclating standard deviation will provide you a figure that you can relie on. That's the reason I said do the standard deviation too.

Please tell me the mean for last month then....thanks!
I only do these calculations when I need doing.

That's what I thought. Do you tell them to stop moaning and get a new job if they don't like it?
They never moaned when I was working there. Actually, I did advice many teachers for getting new jobs if ever they feel they're being treated unfair.

Examples please??? As it sounds good, but it's not really saying anything.
    Contact IJWT please.

And how will these things be changed if we keep it all bottled in as you're saying to do? You really should think before you post.
Some of them can be changed and people did change. All you need is to have better understanding of organizational culture. Approach your boss at the right time and discuss. It always has and it always will help. Moaning on the board, on the other hand, is less likely to help.

So she has a work permit then?

I didn't say anywhere she'd left your company did i? As far as I know she still works there.
All female teachers working with my x employer are having WPs. She ain't one of the full time teachers (and they don't hire part time at all). She might have done a couple of substitution for them (at will and must have been happy with that) and now claim to be one of the teachers there. Ask her to get a reference letter from them if she's still working there.

Easy to find it, now isn't it?

    Quote:
Asians are victims of prejuidce mate. Asians who get English teaching job with reasonable salary should consider themselves lucky. So let's not talk about this unfortunate lot.

Why not they work here as well, they're teachers as well....or do they like the black you have so much disdain for....DESERVE IT AS WELL????
"Unfortunate" is the word I used for them. Now go figure.

Well one minute you're saying Thai culture is all nice and that and now you're saying:
"Not insisting in front of elders / bosses" is what I referred to (part of their culture). Prejudice, on the other hand, is something different.

With our without doing a lesson plan?

It seems the wages have gone up a tad then, good on you!
    LP's a part of contract.

But you don't even know what they're earning??? And like I said it's not good to moan at the boss...so they were probably pretty miserable but put on a good face for you (and then came here and moaned).
They're still working there which means they're happy with the whole package. NO?

    WHAT IS A REASONABLE JOB????
I regard a job as reasonable one "as long as the enjoyment (other factors included) outnumbers the boredom and dis-satisfaction it should be regarded as reasonable / good job".

    Thanks you.

It differs from person to person! For me a reasonable job, management job not teaching English, is the one that promises atleast 45K / month + 6,000 / month travelling allowance, 160 hours / month (lunch hour included), WP, medical insurance and professional working environment.

Also please cover WP, perks, holiday pay etc. Thanks!

Macha you fool we're talking about teaching work, not managements positions for Christ's sake.

    3. All employers know the options available to them.
    4. Players (employees and employers) are making decision based on rational reasoning.
    5. No barriers to entry and exit (teachers' can terminate contract with a month's notice. Same's the case with employers).

That's why I call it a normal market. The only thing that's causing trouble to the teachers is over supply / high influx of un-skilled teachers (or those who pretent to be a teacher). Only a handful of skilled / well-qualified teachers are available in LOS who get desired jobs in no time or employers pick them up immediately. The remaining, un-qualified lot with their pathetic skills, leave no option for employers but to reduce the wage and hire them. Employers have to choose b/w "bad and worse" (like it happened in the US and the UK general elections) at this stage.
    Real nice! And real wrong

This has become a slanging match between Ken and Macha (again)
I'll move it to the recycle bin.

The antics of you two guys is one of the main talking points in the moderators room. Unfortunately the two of you seem to ignore the advice of the moderating team and think you are somehow 'above the law' where this discussion forum is concerned.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.

I've locked it and moved it back as there was some reasonable discussion at the start of the thread which it wuld be a shame to lose to the bin.

I get what you mean about Zebra crossing threads though Phil...Jesus!
