I will be completing my TEFL course in October and hope to start working in November.
I have family coming out in December and am curious about when the school holidays are so I can accomodate them.
(I know that the main breaks are October and March-April. I see there are a couple of Pub. Holidays in Dec. )
1. If a holiday falls on a weekend day....is the following Monday a holiday for schools? What about Dec. 26th?
2. Do schools usually allow any additional unpaid time off, or is this quite difficult?
3. Can I realisticaly expect to have all or most of March-April off, and if so, is it PAID time off?
If anyone can tell me where to get a school schedule for 2005,(couldn't find anything useful on the net) I'd appreciate it!
1. Christmas is not a holiday in Thailand unless you are on a western term.
2. For a new hire its not that easy.
3. No you cannot and in the majority of cases you will not be paid. Example I get 3 weeks but I have to work 1/2 of the summer term. I am paid but have had the job a long time.
The schedules vary from school to school. As do the holidays, both public and paid.
These are not good questions, perhaps you should think about starting at a later date rather than how you can get days off before you have a job.

There is no such thing as a school schedule in Thailand, since most schools set their own schedule according to their immediate needs.

We don't know mate
October sometime is the best the director can come up with - we are due a school inspection sometime in octber and BKK won't tell her when - so she can't say yet for us.
However as she thinks I am her surrogate son I can just go whenever I want in October - so off on the 3d back 20th
