Never had that problem in the more than 2 years we've been together. I've never had a large amount of money and she bought me more things than I bought her. She's been to America 3 years in a row and we've been together ever since. I'll try my luck on her and see what happens.

So she knows the system and see men picking up the check....but good luck with your system.

Something very fishy here. Thailand is no place for tight arses. O.P you can live on 2000 baht a month. Bollox. that's about 70 baht a day. what do you do all day?. I'm sure you girlfriend enjoys sharing her life with a cheap skate. Save some money first before you come cos if you don't you'll be one of these scroungers who comes up with a hard luck story, borrows money off people and then disappears again.
That was my vacation in Thailand and my friends made it up to me for taking care of them in America. I know that If i went to Thailand to live I would be spending at least 15,000 baht a month, but most likely more.
---Update---
We met some of their friends in Hua Hin, stayed at her cousin's apartment in bkk while traveling around Khao San road, went hiking in Ubon and traveled around Si Sa Ket most of the time.
Warhammer from your time here I think you are a good guy and I think you've found yourself a good girl. You're still young, follow your heart and give it a go. If it fails, well, at least you tried.
Just have more savings and you'll be okay no matter what.
You may be a Coonass but I'd still like to buy you a drink someday.
