Okay, never mind. I finally found a link.

NOTE: Criminal record clearance certificate. IS NO LONGER MANDATORY FOR VISA APPLICATIONS FROM 1st SEP 2011
Regulations change from month to month and we have no control over the Thai consulates decision. Sometimes you just get someone in the wrong mood and they don't issue the proper visa. That said though we have never had a student who was refused a visa to get them into Thailand.

Bit late in the day but ...

CELTA courses are accredited by Cambridge University. Cambridge university regularly vies with Oxford University to be the best university in the world.

TEFL International say they are accredited by OTTSA. OTTSA seem to accredit online courses. They only seem to have accredited 3 "TEFL" institutions. I assume other "TEFL" schools are in a similar position to TEFL International. This is easy enough to check online. TEFL is just a generic term really.

If someone wants to teach kids then i'm sure the CELTA skills are transferable & learning whilst teaching is where a lot of key skills come from anyway.

Taking teacher training in Thailand for a month is a lot of fun.

errr they regularly vie with Harvard for the best university in the world (and usually win, according to most polls). Oxford are nearly as bad as Columbia.

that said, a) yeah always bet on CELTA and b) don't they have a 'young learners' module or som'n?

the TEFL international thingy might be useful for places like the middle east or vietnam where having a TEFL credential borders on being required. in Thailand IME few schools get moist over either TEFL or CELTA...

The skills learned on the TEFL course in Ban Phe cannot be measured simply.
