    That is true.

    He hadn't.

    He publicly went of at his school head for being such an ignoramus and ignoring his rights as a U.S. citizen then Thailand as a whole for being such a backward Monkeyland that cannot even adhere to its laws and treaties.

    He left pretty quickly after that.

    quick highlights:

    calculate gross income for the year........................................ 360,000 thb
    DEDUCT: 40% or 60,000 thb whichever is least........................- 60,000
    deduct personal allowance: 30,000 thb.....................................- 30,000
    assuming no other deductions per the table:
    ................................................. Taxable income...................270,000 thb

    tax rates / taxes due: 0% on the first 150,000 ........................-150,000
    .................................................. .........................................120,000 thb taxable
    tax rate / taxes due: 10% on the next 350,000 .......................12,000 thb taxes due.

    First, thanks for posting that info/link.

    I read the wording, but I wonder if you'd simply have to fly back to the states to get this exemption? Probably not. It sounds like people at universities wanting to come over and teach or do research, so it may be pretty specific?? I'll definitely look into it, and thanks again, good info.

    Also sounds like you'd have to prove you have a permanent residence in the states.

    the US has a similar arrangement with alot of countries. The one for Korea is almost identical except it says 'the person must be invited by the ROK gov't' which negates most teachers. But you should be eligible for this. It helps if your school understands about the deal will stand behind you. My school did.
