So it's a new term...even the least competent schools should have their schedules worked out by now...
What's yours look like?
I thought last term was slack, though I'm contracted for 18 hours I ended up doing about 10...at my Uni they put classes into 3 hour blocks, but typically they suggest 2 hour classes and 1 hour for self-study.(self-study) but 6x3= 18... I shoot for 1.5 hours per class as any more than that sees the bulk of students engaging in out of body experiences...( for you haters out there, of course this is because my classes suck and are so boring
)
This term they only scheduled me for 4 classes; Mon afternoon, Wed morning, Thur morning and afternoon...so that makes a grand total of 6 hours/week, with 3.5 day weekends for the term...it could be worse I guess...
The Uni has also acquiesced to my training regime and I only stay on campus while I'm teaching...sure the rules say we must be there from 9-4:30...but rules are for suckers, right?
So far not a peep from admin...so I guess my plan is working......I came to Asia 11 years ago with no mind to continue the rat race and hoped I could achieve a working semi-retirement...I've yet to sign a contract for more than 20 hours/week and I've been able to average about 12 hours/week...
Well, are you busting your ass for your pittance...sorry, I mean salary? Or are you working on easy street?...

By the end of this month I am going to be busier than that proverbial blue arsed fly.
Holding down a full time government job and doing two subjects at university plus family responsibilities means three months of hell on Earth for me.
At the end of this period I will be finished my degree and out in the job market to apply my newly accredited skills.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
36.25 hours a week. Geology related but mainly GIS software and data processing work. A true shiny seat position.
Ah, those cushy uni jobs in Asia...
How much are they paying you, Thaitanium? Do you get sabbaticals? How long are the vacations?
You think if I wanted you to know my salary I might have included it in the op right...would you like the diameter of my ballzack as well?
I'm making enough...at 6 hours a week it's prolly more than most...
Besides freetime is more important to me than money...if I were all about the money I wouldn't be here now would I...FFS
well I have a lot more free time...not to mention,energy...for wick-dipping than them gung ho makin da money types......![]()
My workload at school is pretty similar to last year, at about 23 hours teaching - though for some reason they must think it a lot more than last year as they approached me and offered me more money (4 times what my salary was officially increased by)... they said it was because they felt bad for me as they saw me running around all the time, but I am sceptical... to me, if they have offered me unexpected money it means they are gonna hit me with more work some time soon. To be fair, I have been doing a lot of work for them over and above (I have put together an English website for them and generally doing jobs before they can think of jobs to ask me to do)...
I also teach Saturdays at school now, for a 50-50 cut with the school. They sell the program at just over 10'000bht for 24 hours (1.5 hours a week, over 16 weeks). I get half of that. At the moment it means it isnot great money as there are only 3 students signed up so far (so about 650 an hour at the moment)... but I will be laughing if I can get even 10 in a class.
