Thread: 100K Salaries in BKK?

100k is minimum for decent living in NYC. Anyone who thinks that about Bangkok is an idiot.

I lived on 30,000 baht for 2 months living inside of BKK and did whatever I wanted inside of BKK. That woman you talked to has extremely unrealistic expectations and you shouldn't consider a relationship with her if that's why you are talking with her. I would say 35,000 would be good for living in BKK because of the apartment situation.

but you are proudly pathologically stingy and live like a hillbilly. i reckon your reckoning is just as out there as miss 100k. i averaged around 50k and it was alright, but 100k would have suited me much better.

I live within my means and enjoy it. I don't drink so that saves money, but I enjoy hanging out.

Anna, you have been a useless tool since I've been on this site so leave your lack of getting "screwed" out of this. Lol. Since you haven't actually ever given any decent advice, I will have to go with the rest of ajarn's regulars.

Well, as an Ajarn regular, I can say that you should probably shoot for 45k as a salary, and this will give a pretty decent lifestyle in Bangkok: basic living costs, studio flat in a nice building with a pool (far from the subway, though), and a couple nights out on the town per month. Biggest costs in Thailand seem to be the most variable: rent, nightlife, and alcohol.

I lived about 2-3 miles from the airport and had loads of fun. Whether I walked to a bar or went downtown, I never spent very much this year because I didn't have to. I ate local food 6 days a week, didn't use taxis often and had a 5,000 baht/month studio apartment that did the job.

Drinking can get expensive though. My gf and I shared the cost of a 900 baht bill at the Chidlom Bar for her birthday party. We got a few bottles of strong alcohol and her friends drank that with pepsi.

60k in bkk (if single) will do ya. take that to 75k if you have a gf who isnt working or is thai (unless you landed a middle class girl, in which case, hats off to you ).
