Quote - Please be aware that, in order for us to obtain a work permit, you must have your original degree certificate, transcript, Thai culture course certificate, criminal record check from your local police and a letter from your university confirming your attendance there.

u know that in reality it doesn't work like that Stamp. It depends on where, when, who...
I know purplesmoker. It's even in the Alien Working Act 2008 that individual labour offices can have additional requirements.
But it's better to adhere to the official rules when posting information on a forum.
If sombody's interested I can post the exact rules for the Labour Office in Phetchaburi province. They differ from what I posted in post # 3.
I agree with u but i just wanted to point out that if u do no have or match all the requirements u may still be able to find a job here especially if u go through an agency
So is it better to apply through an agency?
It's Thailand so there are ways around everything, but in general:
-Original degree, college transcripts, yes.
-Thai culture course certificate, no. I work with 3 guys with work permits who haven't taken the TCC. I have my certificate proving I sat thru 2 days of the ridiculous course.
-Criminal record check, no. I had one done before I left the US in 2008, but I know lots of teachers who don't have it. My current employer didn't even ask for it.
-Letter from university confirming attendance, no. I don't have one and I'm on my 2nd work permit since 2009. Sounds like backlash due to all the fake degrees floating around out there.
"There's a beverage here man!"
No police check, but for the B visa they wanted both the originals of the degrees (the official did ask for them) and signed copies thereof, on top of the letters of employment from the uni. The original degree requirement is in writing--see below--so it's not a random official whim.
For whatever it's worth, TM 87 document requirements form for teachers in gov schools or uni requires "Diploma and Resume of the applicant (show original)". For private school or uni, the requirement is "Diploma copy and Resume copy of the applicant (show original Diploma)": it's the same thing of course, and signed copies are required in both cases; "Resume" however looks to me like it might be a mistranslation (do they mean transcripts? That'd make more sense.), so bring both with ya' is what I'd sayI wasn't asked for either.
For the work permit, I had a uni minder smoothing out the way and although I had brought everything with me, the signed copies of my degrees were enough. I think it's one of those things where mileage can vary tremendously, but the degree checking (at least visually) seems standard procedure.

Never had to show my transcripts in 8 years, five schools, three provinces.
I lost my degree years ago, but all of the offices have been glad to take my university transcripts instead! As others have pointed out, the rules may have been written, but enforcement is erratic.
