It's not that easy to get your first job. And Phuket is particularly difficult, cos for some reason many Farang like to live in Phuket, even though it is run by various mafias, and would be my one place not to live in Thailand, and the beaches aren't that brilliant anyway. Your son is 28. OK, here is my advice, find a girl with connections. It shouldn't be that difficult. She'll get him the job. He should do his first term and expect to make a total hash of it. He should learn some Thai OK, now he's done his first term, knows some Thai, is totally demoralised, and has a Thai girlfriend (who isn't a total out and out whore). Well, you can make up your own story from here. Should he go home? Has he made her pregnant? As each term goes by he'll become a better and better teacher. But as regards life, life is passing him by. Thailand is like some kind of oasis in the desert. You don't go anywhere here. It's the place elephants come to die.
