How does one go about acquiring health insurance in Thailand? Is it often provided by the employer or do I need to find my own?

When you're working for a government school, it's law that the school subscribes you to the Social Security Fund.

The SSO law doesn't apply to private schools.

I never knew that. I had a bike accident whilst working for a government school and it cost me a fortune!

I think most private schools offer some health cover to full-time staff who have a work permit.
