So far out of the 15 applicants who have replied, in the last 2 days, some 10 of them have ignored my instructions and sent me Ajarn DB resumes. Some didn't even write a cover note.

Is it that they're just not reading the job ads, or do they not even have a proper CV written out on their computers or handydrives.

I don't want to sound up my arse here, but if a recruiter has made some simple, specific requests in it's ad is it not fair to assume that those who ignore them are just not worth even bothering with?

It seems a case of 'click, click, click, one of these places is bound to reply.'
I've contacted some and they're often not even aware that they applied for the job.
The only problem with attachments is you run the risk of viruses. Also some people send huge files wich can clog up your bandwidth.

Macro viruses are some of the most difficult to remove. I had one implant itself into my computers "BIOS" and it took about a week to remove.

Yeah that's why I don't like attachmments I must admit.

Let me see what you got etc. and then you can show a nice fluffy C/V or resume at the appointment etc.

It's when they send like 20 page ones that pisses me off! I don't really care if you had a paper round in like 1934 Not relevant!!!

You're a bit quick on the draw today - you quoted my bastardised post before I had a chance to tidy it up!

What LDMA, Wangsuda, kenkaniff and others are talking about, in most cases, are decently phrased ads written or edited by native speaking TEFLers. The Thai ajarns or their cleaning ladies, who send most of the ads to Phil, are semi-literate in business English and you're lucky to understand the ad or the job.

It's a sad commentary that so many ads on the database are poorly written, and another sad commentary that so many job applicants can't read and follow well-written ads.
