Never worked there myself, but I have heard that it doesn't hurt to brush up on your accent reduction skills.

Benares/Varanasi is well worth a visit.
Ghats on the Ganges in the early AM

I'll post some of my India pics here for
your viewing pleasure when I get a chance..
Nothing amazing, I think Chris' has the
real India photography cover'd... I had a
good but too short trip there in 2004 or 5.
I think Bodh Gaya is also a destination. more
flights heading in their now from Buddhist
countries like LOS- for 'pilgrimage' type holidays...

Good Luck unwell. I have enough problems dealing with Thai's, I could not imagine dealing with Indians on a continual basis. My opinion alone. To visit yes, but I am too old for the hard travelling of India.
good luck.

"Ka warea te ware. Ka area te Rangatira."
Well 25+ years ago I found Sri Lanka to be hard travelling. Was told to forget India if I though Sri Lanka was hard. I just cant stand millions of people around me. Its me its not the country.
Rajastan is awesome and not to crowded AO. I've heard Sri Lankans are a bit rougher than Indians too. I just rekon there's something there for everyone man.
Ain't nothin' wrong with that. I went to India after about 11 months in Lanka, by which time I'd pretty much mastered the basics of being there and gotten comfortable- went north knowing it'd be much more. I made it through fine but it was a bit shocking- just how much more. Steeper learning curve there, for sure. And the people! Everywhere! All the time! Something in the air, even when you get away from the people. It's as if there were a some kind of bio-dome around the country- no air gets in or out - everytime you breathe in: that's Indian air. Those are Indian smells. This is India, nowhere else baby. Deal with it.Originally Posted by aging one

Mujibar was trying to get a job in India.
The Personnel Manager said, "Mujibar, you have
passed all the tests, except one. Unless you pass
it you cannot qualify for this job."
Mujibar said, "I am ready."
The manager said, "Make a sentence using the
words Yellow, Pink and Green."
Mujibar thought for a few minutes and said,
"Mister manager, I am ready."
The manager said, "Go ahead."
Mujibar said, "The telephone goes green, green,
and I pink it up, and say, 'Yellow, this is Mujibar.'"
Mujibar now works as a technician at a call
center for computer problems.
No doubt you have spoken to him.
