In the second week of December I should be in Los with my Mom and her B/F in tow.
I'm thinking:
1~3 days in Bangers and then heading to Phuket (renting a car) and hang at the beach mainly, BUT at least one day (or two) I wanna' take a road trip to a nice National Park. Any suggestions??
I saw (and like the look of ) these places:
Sri Phang Nga
Ao Phang Nga
Khao Phanom Benja
Than Bok Korani
Any further suggestions or first-hand experiences are very welcome.
Basically looking for not-crowded, middle road conveniences (boat rides are ok), money is not a big issue.
Cheers.
Khao Sok mate, if you are interested I'll do some groundwork for you re. accommodation, food and transport.

hire a longboat and go out into phang-nga bay. i've got a thread on it in here somewhere
^That's a beautiful trip too, also recommended.
Indeed a lovely place for flora and fauna. Most folks will recommend the islands, Samui, Tao and Phanghan, but not this reporter. The Andaman Sea is much better than the semi-shit we got on the East coast, cleaner at least.
After Phuket, if you want to try the East coast, you might want to work your way South to Raynong (a shit hole), turn left to Chumporn (another shit hole) get the high-speed ferry to Koh Tao, Tao is the least shitty of the shitty other two islands. The 70-kilo streach between Raynong and Chumporn is one of the loveliest drives known to man. Lots of little towns to stop and visit some nice country folk. Don't miss the WWII Japanese prison camp on your left. BTW, did you know the Japs came here in the 40's and took a huge piece of land without firing a shot?
If it is not alot of effort for you mate, I'd love to here some details.
I'll take a looksy into that big guy....but is the longboat noise a factor??...we quite like to chat aloud while we swill gin.
Right....should have time for that....up to them really.
I haven't been to Khao Lak since (1st) the tsunami cleanup and then a few months after tagging along with some superstars to pass out donations......Is it quite rebuilt up now?
Funny you mention that, as we just might make the drive from Phuket (thru Ranong) to Chumphon to visit Jum's mom briefly.
