Thinking of taking the family to Chokchai Farm and to try one of the talked about steaks.
Been looking on the website for Chokchai as I was thinking about staying overnight there but it's well expensive.
Anyone ever been there?
Is it any good?
Is there anyhere nearby where we could stay cheaper?
You can camp there, or just about 15 K further up the road is Pakchong and lots of places around 1000 baht a night there.

Frankly I have been unimpressed with Chok Chai but the Thais love it. As for accommodation in the area I usually recommend Baanfah Chaynam 044 314236 or 08-1660-2836. This is an inn (restaurant/bar with rooms) beside a clear running stream with better food, scenery and accommodation. The rooms are all under ThB 1,000.

About ten minutes by car. After you pass Chok Chai (on your right) you will see Tesco Lotus - take the slip road just after that and head into Pak Chong. I've recommended the place before (and stayed there myself) and never heard any complaints.

OEG, unless you are planning to go into Khao Yai, it might be better as a day trip. Not really that much to do on Chokchai farm.

Chok Chai is a nice place to relax outside of the polluted cities, the food is very edible, there's a great steakburger place there. If you've got nippers they'll enjoy it too, what with the animals and rides around the farm. But maybe as AO says, it may not fill the whole day, in which case Khao Yai is just up the road (45mins)

No but there are plenty of good places to stay and eat in the area. Chok Chai is great for kids but I thought the food was average at best. Having grown up on a farm I just find the entire wagon wheel, plastic cow and wigwam thing a tad cheesy.

Re: Chokchai Farm, ever been there?
I did the Chokchai farm tour last year with my girlfriend. We enjoyed it and i'm sure your kids will like it. Its about 150 baht each and you get shown round the whole farm seeing how the milk process works and the various stages involved. There's a cowboy/cattle show, horse riding, whip handywork etc. At the end lots of animals perform stunts/acts which i thought was better than usual and then you get the chance to hand feed them. After we ate in the restaurant and i tried a fillet steak. The steak wasn't anything special so i wouldn't be too keen on sampling the food there if i were you.
P.S About 5 mins drive up the road there is a massive Factory outlet which has all the brand names giving big discounts. Bought adidas and elle stuff there which was half the price compared to shops in Bangkok.

This is the Outlet Village on the same side of the road as Chok Chai, and opposite Tesco lotus.
Valley Grill there has much better steaks than Chok Chai.... but usually no customers as Chok Chai has done such a good job with the advertising.

Well went to Chok Chai on Friday, took 1 hour 30mins to get there, did the tour thing around the farm.
Wasn't that good on the farm, had a steak which I thought was very good, went to the Outlet Village but it wasn't opposite Tesco lotus but just down the rd on the same side.
Would I go again?, yes maybe in 6 months but just for the food, ice cream and the milk was well good.

The outlet village is directly opposite Tesco Lotus (they both have Starbucks and you can see one from the other). I think I know the place you went to though. Outlet village has lots of brightly coloured cows:
