    Had Yai advice urgently needed

    I'm flying to Had Yai tonight with the original plan of going over to Koh Lipe tomorrow morning for 3 days but since the island is half empty during this season, the accommodation options are limited, I had estimated that it will cost me in all 11,000 (inc return flight) before I even start to spend money.

    So...Im pondering alternatives and asking anybody down that neck of the woods if they can recommend anywhere relatively close to Had Yai that would be nice and inexpensive for a 3 day holiday on either of the coasts. Maybe Trang province.....

    Well they do, I've spoken to the resort manager today, the speed boats run everyday but there are only two resorts open, both being quite high end and me being a tight arse...

    Koh Lipe is way out to sea and boats are very infrequent in the monsoon season. Koh libong and Koh sukorn are two islands a bit further north. Satun province i believe. They are quite and low key. Even more than Lipe. But both are close to the mainland so they may be easier to get to. Koh Ngai in Trang may be better, or go all the way up to Koh Lanta in Krabi, as it's open all year round. It's about four hours from Hat Yai.

    I can't suggest anything close to Hatyai. There's always Songkhla I suppose.

    Krabi or Trang check the internet when you get to Hat Yai all sorts of deals going on at the moment in both places and nice islands around here also.

    Trang Tourism agencies screaming for business and I no Krabi is also so worth a look if your stuck in Hat yai.

    Secondly Malaysia is across the way and Penang island, depending on your visa of course??
