After India I really neede a place to relax. . I chose similan Islands. . def a great choice. . not overrun with tourist. . beautiful blue water, white sand, and wildlife. .
Its a bit expensive to get to. . usually runs around 2000 or 3000 baht round trip from Phuket. .
The Island is a well preserved National Park. . it is only open from November until May. . At thge end of may workers and volunteers go and have a cleanup day and then let the islands settle back into nature for 6 months. .
Love this rock on koh 4 similan
My luxury accommodation for the weekend 600 baht
Blue water, white sand, and no tourist. . perfect. .

Very nice. Never thought of going there myself but it looks as though I should.

Yeah its really nice. .especially if u stay there for a couple of nights. . because it only really gets touristy between 12 noon and about 3:00 when the tour boats roll in and the tour groups have an hour of snorkeling and lunch. . but its really clean and nice and there were a ton of tree monitors, lizards, snakes, bats ect. . they have either tents or bungalows. .
beautiful
Very nice Matt.
I've just found out I have an extra two weeks holiday in hand and I'm probably only a few hours ride from here over to there.
Maybe buy a tent and do it.
Nice pics

Wow! Stunning pics, mcatt! What type of camera are you using? I never got to the Similian Islands, but I hear they are one of the best places to scuba dive.
I'd love to see more pics from the area. Tenting it, is certainly a cheap option. I read that there were not many places to stay on the Island as it were. Cheers!
What? No penthouses for the the lizards, snakes, bats, ect ?
Man, as we've told you before, it's "etc" and it's short for "etcetera". It's especially embarrassing not to know that when you're in Thailand, because of a certain movie that's banned here.
Thanks for the pics though! Wonderful!
There are few problems in life that cannot be solved with toast.
One of them, however, is opening a can of corned beef with that stupid key. This cannot easily be done at the best of times, and toast is of surprisingly little use in resolving the issue.
fucking pedant...
one of those shots had me exclaiming out loud.
I'm everywhere you've never been and better than I've ever been
Yes, well, Jude Law raising one eyebrow would have you "exclaiming out loud", no great mystery there.
So, how far from the Dengue Fever belt is this place, exactly?
Pls downsize photos b4 postin

Looks awesome. Does the 600bht include the rent for a tent? It seems an awful lot if just for a spot on the beach.
What about food? many places? All Thai or western food as well?
I might try try to venture there.
600 gets u a tent, 2 sleeping bags, 2 pillows. . im not even sure your allowed to bring ur own tents there . .there are 9 islands in all that make up Similan. . u can only stay on #4 and #8. . number 4 is the biggest and has tenst, and bungalows, #8 only has tents. . both beatiful beaches. . number 8 has a much better viewpoint.. . #4 has one resturtant and bar .. serve all Thai and seafood and fruit and a small gift shop with shirts, sunblock, chips ect. . .they have lockers that u can lock up ur valuables as well. .
since it is so expensive to get there no matter how u do it.. i joined a one day snorkeling tour. . the tour goes out at 6 am and comes back at 6pm. . i just told my tour guide i wanted to stay a couple of nights. . which was no problem and seems like many people do that. . when the tour headed back i stayed and a couple of days later I joined another tour that was returning. . so I got a full day tour and round trip transportation from my guesthouse in Patong for 2,200 baht. .
but hurry as the season is coming to an end and it closes in May. . until Nov. .
