Has any one been to, or lived in Danang recently. What was your experience like?
Danang me - Danang me, oughta take a rope and hang me.
A few years since I was there. The town looked like Rayong with an airport. China Beach however...well, that is something and I don't even like beaches.
"Take this, brother; may it serve you well."
"While Jim is milking the Russian Boar, I'm in the shade of a Baobab tree being served a cool drink by a beautiful young indigenous girl. "

Aloha - Aloha HARD
Headquarters of the US Moron Corps back in the day. Spent an in-country R&R at China Beach and it was quite lovely. I hear it's the best place to get a tailored suit. It's full of Vietnamese.
Danang figured significantly in the Vietnam conflict.........
............................
a little off topic here...
But I've often wondered what difference Vietnam made.
The Americans never did accept that they had lost this conflict...
Perhaps the nation has been in denial since that conflict?
But then again, it's always impossible for a nation to say "we lost"
Even the Germans vis-a-vis WW1, were not willing to say such a thing.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

If you mean the Vietnam (American) War and what difference it made, then I will tell you that it made a hell of a lot of difference. Don't dismiss it. The world that you and I live in now, is shaped in myriad ways by that conflict and by that time.
So, please don't 'wonder' about it. Read.
Thanks cluez....
I sometimes get a tad carried away,
cheers,
carry on..................
---Update---
Hi Anna.
Of course.
Thing is though...
...we all have our own worlds...
I got mine, you got yours. the twain can never meet...needless to say.
This is why I am never disturbed by folks announcing the end of the world..............
Some folks actually take that stuff seriously........
Know what I mean?
No, I don't know what you mean.
I'm not going to be a participant in one of your meta-dialogues. I was being literal.

The Vietnam war created Pattaya. So it's not a total loss.![]()
^ One of the lesser recognised benefits for which I am eternally grateful.
By the way, I was in Banchang the other day, er, shopping and stuff and all that sort of thing, and I was actually amazed - I was, I was amazed - by the amount of civilian 737s coming over, undercarriage down, and then turning over the hills to land at Sattahip. I saw three of the buggers in about an hour. All the same livery. Didn't recognse it.
That there U-Tapao is getting busy I tell you.
Also a lot of fighter jets. I'm guessing F-16s, but the buggers were going so fast they'd been and gone and were just a speck in the distance before I could focus.
A busy sky is a fun sky.
