A few questions about travelling to Taiwan

Over the years I have noticed threads about people teaching in Taiwan so I am hoping there will be a few people around that can help answer my questions.

I want to go there in the middle of November to watch the World Baseball Classic.

I have noticed that Thai, Eva and China all fly direct from Bangkok. Are there any others? Any suggestions on which one is best?

The stadium where the games are being held is called Xinzhuang Stadium. Any idea which airport would be the closest/easiest to reach this stadium?

Any suggestions on accommodation within walking distance of the stadium?

If I had a morning or afternoon off between games are there any suggestions on some magnificent tourist attraction close by that or should see or do?

I have never been to Taiwan or Chine so any Restaurant recommendations in the area or what is the 'must eat' I should try?

    Thanks everyone.

    Thanks keekwai, very helpful.

Warhammer, they are only about 12,000 baht return as well which I thought was pretty good.

It was! Your query on Trip Advisor yielded the same empty results as here.

Yes, even the visa link that person provided did not help all that much. If I understood it correctly I think I get a free one on arrival.... I think.

I had been to that wotif page but all the hotels listed are 7km + away, there must be some within walking distance you would think. Perhaps I will wait to see where the Kiwi team ends up staying and bum a lift with them.

Got to agree. Used them just the once a few years ago. Heathrow to Bangkok and back. Excellent.

eva suck; sadly flying with them in a few weeks time. no choice, as for direct, its that or THAI who are worse or BA's snotty stewardess. Eva generally suck because of the high prevalence of presenting a pot noddle as gourmet food and the incidence of gormless taiwanese blocking the aisles
By 2005 every previous resident of Warsaw had listed their temporary address as Portswood, Southampton, leading to it's appointment as capital of Poland. It is currently the subject of a hostile takeover bid from the home counties, particularly

^Oh please teach me about da footy, wise one. Actually, scratch that, I could give sweet fa how you rate my knowledge of the beautiful game (I know enought to know Arsenal is shit). I suppose you're an expert because you're an Englishman, right? A country obsessed with the sport that were lucky to draw with America at the World Cup...sad really.
