    Phi Phi for NYE?

The gf and I were thinking about Phi Phi for NYE. Can anyone here recommend a decent hotel for about 3000 baht a night? Or is that just wishful thinking?

As always, many thanks in advance!

Phi Phi is expensive, Koh Lanta is not. And from there you can boat it to Phi Phi and many other islands. Don't know what NYE is.

I'm well aware that Phi Phi is expensive. However, I was hoping that I could get something decent for around 3000 baht a night...but maybe I need to spend more. That's why I was asking here.

I will look into Koh Lanta, so thanks for the suggestion.

^3k will get you something decent up on the hillside, maybe even Long Beach. Take a look at Travelfish.org, one of the best sites around for accommodation recommendations.

Thai hotels specifically double and triple their rates from Christmas through January 2nd or 3rd. There are very inexpensive bungalows on Koh Phi Phi but I doubt they advertise on the internet. For booking a 'proper' hotel there, visit agoda.com.

^most, if not all, bungalows on phi Phi do actually advertise on the internet, or at least through third party sites/books. I know this to be true, purely because I have spent days and days (probably about 6 weeks in total over a 6 year period) trudging all over the island collecting data for 3 different guidebooks and one travel website. There are a number of guesthouses which are no listed, but most bungalows receive listing in at least one third party place. Additionally, many have their own websites. The rates for rocking up without booking do not differ. Guesthouses are a different kettle of fish.

For the best deals, you should be contacting the places directly, not through a reseller like Agoda. Often, the direct offers are lower, purely as agoda (et al) have to make some money.

Thanks again for all the responses. I checked out agoda and air asia but didn't find anything that looked decent in my price range. However, I didn't know about travelfish.org. I will definitely check that out tonight!
