What is there to do in Darwin? Good question. If you are into wildlife the outback, waterfalls national parks etc then you will never get bored. If you are into big city life then go to sydney.

Or you could hire a car and drive and visit me :)
Hmm. While I'm certainly more a rural than urban sort, the maps and Google Earth suggest its pretty barren. So, how many thousands of kilometres would I have to drive to pop round your place then?

Quite barren? Depends when you visit, for half the year there is heaps of rain, waterfalls etc.

For the other half it is dry but still heaps to do. A really laid back place is darwin but enough of the city life for country folk like me to still go there as it is the nearest 'big smoke'

850kms to see me and a bit over 4,000kms to see geecee.

Well, I don't know when the Google Earth photos were updated. They can fall a bit behind, it seems. There's some fairly extensive construction near me that's still green grass on GE.

So when's a good time to visit the Darwin area if rain, greenery, and waterfalls are more to one's liking than brown dirt?

    awesome value.
I saw that and wondered about it, but I have to ask (in all seriousness), what is there to do in Darwin?

I hear there's a Maccas, and maybe a wallaby if you're lucky. Couple of outback dunnies and a big red rock in the middle of nowhere too, iirc.
