Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Saw "Blood Diamond" last night. Very impressed. Leo di Caprio's best acting effort ever I think. Script is good (mostly). The black actor whose name I missed is really good as the father searching for his family. Thoroughly recommend this one. I'd give it four stars (which is high for me).

I'm waiting to catch that one. It looks great.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
this divided state: a documentary about michael moore's visit to a college in a staunchly conservative town in utah. the student president/vice-president were forced to give both sides of the story so they flew sean "let me hannitise you weak liberals" hannity in to give his pro-bush pep-talk. also lots of threats against them and one crazy mormon guy who took them to court to force them to step down and also attempted to bribe them.

American Beauty has been on telly a couple of times lately, watched it for the first time in years and it's just as dark, funny and brilliant as I remembered it to be.

Children of Men
In 2027, in a chaotic world in which humans can no longer procreate, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea, where her child's birth may help scientists save the future of humankind...
In the future, there'll be tuk-tuks in London, and Michael Caine as you've never seen him before. Good stuff!

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Must admit I was sceptical myself ... I gave it a go - Valentine's day treat for the Mrs (a movie in Thai for a change ) ... we were both pretty happy.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
The pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith - best acting ever from him, an intelligent script about a father who tries to get a break and make it while also caring for his young son and surviving being homeless and other problems. Four stars.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Thought it was new. Perhaps it had a re-release 'cos I read a review of it on an international website as a late last year release.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
Pretty good I thought. It's about the lead up to the Irish civil war. Lots of senseless murder, bleak brutality and ultimately brother killing brother. A good non-judgemental angle on the violence. Good acting and dialogue.
3 1/2 out of 5.
