Stranger than Fiction-- Brilliant... I think it is great to see another side of Will Farrell. He's a hilarious comedian, but he is versitile. It was shown in this movie

I'll have to watch it.
Still, if Ferrell had only ever done "Anchor Man" he'd be a genius to me.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
The Queen.
It's not bad. You'd need to know who's who and to have followed the Princess Di death saga to follow it all. It'd probably help if you cared about the Royal family too.
The guy who played my hero and mentor Prince Phillip was good. He mutters about being "surrounded by zulus" and the "homosexuals" attending Di's funeral which would be just like him. Whatsherface played the queen well. Tony Blair's in it too. Not as nauseous or slimy as I wanted but not a bad portrayal of him too.
3/5.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
I saw 'Notes On A Scandal' last week, having read the book a couple of years ago.
It's worth seeing - Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench play off each other well.
It will strike a chord with anyone who has either worked in or been educated at a State school in Britain.
Not a classic, but worth a look.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
I saw Babel. It was the first film in about five years I actually sat through from beginning to end. Probably 'cos I wasn't controlling the TV remote.
The film? er...fair to okay in bits.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Race car driver movie has only one funny scene, unfortunately.
I saw The Good Shephard a couple of days ago (nearly 7 quid - holy fuck)
A complexly woven (lengthy) story about the origins of the C.I.A, that jumps back and forth in time.
Mmm, it was nicely photographed, and the script was good, but the casting was a bit off. Matt Damon was suitably steely and the opposite of verbose (what's the word?), but when he's meant to be 20 years older all of a sudden, it doesn't work for me. Maybe that's the make-up dept's fault!
His son also looks like a weird frog creature. You would have thought that the spawn of Jolie and Damon would be a bit better looking, no? Distracting.
However, the denouement (French word, means the culmination) is satisfying.

Not yet mate, ken recommended that one too.
I like the brilliant pathological cameos Ferrell does in movies like Starsky and Hutch and The Wedding Crashers. I liked him in Old School too, and Elf.
Last night I watched Easy Rider, it popped up on UBC and it was a bit of a treat to see it as I'm reading about those guys at the moment.
Hadn't seen it in years, and it was an interesting mix of the excruciatingly awful (dreadful hippy platitudes), and blindingly brilliant (some scenes are bona fide cinema classics). The soundtrack kicks arse, absolutely inspired.
Peter Fonda does his best cardboard cutout impression throughout, Hopper's improvisation is clownish but brilliant. I hadn't remembered Nicholson as being anything special in this, but from the moment he hits the screen in the jail scene he's absolutely electric. He was always going to be something special.

I thought it was a pretty good noir-esqe mystery with an outstanding cast...really enjoyed it, actually.
Adrian Brody was excellent, Diane Lane: fantastic as usual, Bob Hoskins: great performance, Robin Tunney was smokin' hot and Ben Affleck plays a big stiff, which is perfect for him.
Worth watching just for Diane Lane IMO, but I'm a fan.

I will agree that Adrian Brody played a great role, also Rubin Tunney and Diane Lane were looking pretty good... But Two hours of a muder-mystery that goes nowhere... Plus has Afflek stinking up the whole damn thing

I saw the mystery part as a framing device...the crux of it was more about personal despair and disentigration. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're into the period, noir, or even Superman, I think it's worth a look-see. Rubbish? I'd reserve that more for movies like "Taxi" or "Norbit," honestly. But it's your call, dude!
They had Rushmore on the cable the other day. Enjoyed watching that again. Nice soundtrack, which I promptly downloaded .
