Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Here is a review I did somewhere else of an "interesting" film I saw not long ago
Inland Empire (2006)
Lynch at his best I guess, but it's really unwatchable, yet superb and disturbing in an artistic kind of way, making it a master piece wreck. The soundtrack is superb again in a freaky kind of way that only Lynch got the secret for. It's all about impressions, images, sensations, it's sureal and VERY FUCKING eerie. There is no storyline or a very "simplistic" one: we are all actors of a failed movie and whores.
You really can't seat through this for 3 hours and not go insane, wether you like it or not. I had to go into FF mode and pickup scenes to watch it. Very artistic in an obscure European kinda way. The title itself was pickup out of the blue during a conversation between Lynch and Laura Dern (his fetish actress)
Lynch is a painter, not a director, he chose the wrong career
Must see as a curiosity: 9/10 for the artistic unwatchable value

Not Tarantino mate....Death Proof is QT.
Planer Terror with the zombies in is Robert Rodriguez!

Saw 'Superbad' - budget comedy about school kids in US trying to get laid, you know the stuff. Anyway it's really gross in places, had me in stitches.

American Cannibal - The Documentary.
Very good indeed....and also quite interesting. A look at reality shows in the States.
The first three Jesse Stone films with Tom Selleck.....quiet but good!

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
An Australian film called "Noise", a fairly recent release.
Dark and pretty interesting little film, not bad at all and worth a look.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Cube Zero, the third version of the Cube movies
Only good if you watched the two prior movies (Cube and Cube Square), as it show a bit more of "external" actions instead of "internal" only actions

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
'The Chumscrubber', fcukin' awesome! Black comedy which also deals fairly well with teenage suicide. Shows modern Western (U.S.) suburban culture in an honest and damning light. Showing now on Star Movies (UBC). Ralph Fiennes and heaps of other actors you'll recognise, think Macaulay Culkin was in there too, looks a bit different here though. Really good, still can't believe how good it was compared to what I was expecting (another white suburban family drama...) Check it out.

Ain't it Hyper Cube rather than Cube Square???
The two follow ups are okay but not a patch on the original IMO!

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Children of Men (2006)
In 2027, in a chaotic world in which humans can no longer procreate, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea, where her child's birth may help scientists save the future of humankind.
not bad at all.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Harry Potter 5, Order of the Phoenix - didn't like it much, more action than the previous HP films but little character development.
Sunshine - a standard sci-fi story ala The Core, this time a mission to restart the Sun and save the Earth from a solar winter. Not bad, watchable.
Flushed Away - Excellent Aardman animated film with a take on the old prince and the pauper story about two rats, one hi-so, one from the sewers that trade places. Enjoyed it.
