Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
The Kite Runner will be released soon. The novel was phenomenal!
The Kite Runner (2007)
The two main characters of the story are Amir, a well-to-do Afghan boy, and Hassan, a Hazara the son of Amir's father's servant, Ali. The boys spend their days in a peaceful Kabul, kite fighting, roaming the streets and being boys. Amirs father, Baba, loves both the boys, but seems often to favor Hassan for being more manly. He is critical of Amir. Amirs mother died in childbirth, and Amir fears his father blames him for his mothers death. However, he has a kind father figure in the form of Rahim Khan, Babas friend, who understands Amir better, and is supportive of his interest in writing stories.

The Kite Runner (2007)
I'd give the novel an EASY 10/10........The filum: Strong 9/10....a few essentials left by the wayside., but WHAT A STORY! Gripping, dramatic, inspirational, cultural and heart-warming.
I believe it is essentially fiction based on historically truthful times and places.
He is critical of Amir.....
"This is a moving story about friendship, love, guilt and eventual redemption."

Good flick (should've called it Wronger Turn though, got a nice ring to it), Henry Rollins did alright in his role as a former army-type dude presenting a reality tv show. Full of the usual characters so fairly easy to guess who is going to cop it next. The Wife was retching when she saw the bit with the 'soup' barrels near the end, well funny. Worth a watch but I think that the first one was just slightly better.
The Girl Next Door is a truly disturbing filum based on a true story. The character of the young girl is just so cute and innocent that what happens to her later on seems so much worse. The ale-can auntie is someone that I really wanted to kick in the face. An extremely emotional and I'm glad that I waited until The Wife fell asleep before watching it. I dread to think what the book is like.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) has worked hard his whole life to build his hospital corporation into a Fortune 500 company. As CEO, Edward is on top of the world when cancer comes knocking on his door. In the hospital, Edward is put into a room with another cancer patient, Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman).
Carter remembers that in one of his classes the professor gave them an assignment to fill out a Bucket List of the things you want to do in life before you kick the bucket.
imdb readers gave it a 7. I'd go one more and say an 8/10. True there are a couple of "Hollywood Moments," but mainly I found it to be a no-nonsense drama very well acted and written.
Rob Reiner directed.

The King of Kong : A Fist full of Quarters
A middle-school science teacher and a hot sauce mogul vie for the Guinness World Record on the arcade classic, Donkey Kong.
If you remember Donkey Kong this movie is for you.

I remember you chaning your avatar when you posted after my comment in the movie's thread on here.
I saw Juno last night. It was pretty good. Teenagers and their talk haven't changed much since I was a teen.
I think the teen boy was kinda mean to not ask the girl to the prom, instead selling out to someone else. Finally he seemed to come around to commitment though.
Another Oscar winner for Best Picture for 2007.

Re: Movies - what you seen and was it any good?
Saw 'Son Of Rambow' while back in Angleterre.
A fantastical and fresh take on being a kid in early 80s England.
Great performances from two young lads in particular.
