Jees Buddahas, what are you talking about here? It's not easy to get care in Canada. There is no such thing as family doctor, hospitals are filthy and staff is uneducated, especially in Quebec. Yes, it's all free (LMFAO), but I think you shoudln't compare US healthcare to Canadian. It's like comparing it to Thai hospitals. It's good for us westerners, but how is it working out for the average Thai?
Bottom line: Healthcare sucks ass un USA and in Canada. Perhaps it is more humain over here, but it sucks and is corrupted nevertheless...
Filthy hospital and uneducated staff?
Where?
Hospitals in Canada are very clean by any standards and the staff is as well qualified as anywhere on the planet.
Canadians enjoy excellent health care.
Sure there are those who are determined to undermine universal medicare in Canada. Usually folks from south of the border.
There is no comparison between the Canadian and American system. Apples and oranges.
Canadians would never allow their government to fuck them over the way Americans seem only so willing to have their government fuck them over on every opportunity.
The American health care system is a disgrace. I guess these folks are too busy spending their tax booty on building new prison facilities.
So Buddahas please...i can assure you that your observations, where ever you gathered them from, are way, way off base.
Now, if your not at citizen or landed immigrant, things are different.
Do you have Canadian citizenship? Are you paying into the medical plan?
No such thing as family doctors?
Since when.

I think you were hilarious in Canadian Bacon!
Okay, that's cool.
Seriiously though....no point in you giving people an completely incorrect idea of the canadian health care system.
Gotta base these comments on fact. Somebody might actually give a shit.![]()

Oh, waitaminute.... just go to news.google.com and type Canada Healthcare for most current news stories.
The 1984 Canada Health Act affirmed the federal government's commitment to provide mostly free health care to all, including the more than 200,000 immigrants arriving each year, under a system called Medicare. The American healthcare financial system is flawed, as I've written before. But, it's still the best in the world as far as I can tell. If you are willing to pay for it, you can get just about any medical service that's tested and proven in the US. Few people, even the poor, ever wait for services for more than hours, let alone months or years.
But the universal health-care system - while considered one of the fairest in the world - has been plagued by long waiting lists and a lack of doctors, nurses and new equipment. Some patients wait years for surgery, MRI machines are scarce and many Canadians travel to the United States for medical treatment.
In most Canadian provinces, it is illegal to seek faster treatment and jump to the head of the line by paying out of pocket for public care. Private health clinics have sprouted up even though they are technically illegal, though the provincial governments tend to look the other way. - The Guardian
There's little question that the Canadian Health Care system has come under increased pressure by the huge number of immigrants entering the system at such a massive rate.
It's a huge problem. But we won't go there.

Yes, problem is there are millions upon millions who can't afford it.
Anyway Buddahas, I've read the posts and really isn't anthing too surprising there. No system is 100 percent perfect.
I've been through hundreds of hospitals in Canada and never ever seen the things you are describing.
And no family doctor? Again, since when?
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
Have you personally had a bad experience with the system by the way?
Have you personally had a bad experience with the system by the way?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I mentioned, my uncle had a bad experience. This was very unfortunate and was to be completelly blamed on filthy hospital staff.
To be fair, I haven't had a bad experience myself (just a few mediocre ones), but I've never been seriously sick. Since I spent 15 years in Montreal, this is what I based my observation(s) on.
The only way to get a family doctor is if the clinic is newly open. Good luck otherwise. I know I don't have one.
The family doctor is out:

Like I say, Hasn't been my experience.
No doubt the system is under pressure though. Hope you have better luck in the future with the system.
...I love this bit of trivia, especially after Micheal Moore himself said he would rather receive medical treatment in the US than Cuba...Originally Posted by zehner

I'd say a good thirty percent of those millions are in the country illegally...Originally Posted by russellsimpson

They wouldn't have statistics on that group because "officially" anyway, they would be off the books.
Nope, just ordinary Americans I fear.![]()
