^ Not sure but I think it was Croc Dundee II. Plenty of more expensive american movies shot in Aus though.

Just cringing in anticitpation. I've got nothing against throwing the poor folk of the Kimberley a bone but if he really wanted stunning scenery he'd head further east in the Top End.

The storyline sounds alot like 'A Town Like Alice' without the Japanese war camp bit.

Yes, first went to Kununurra in '78, even spent 3-4 days in Halls Creek because the 'Highway' was impassable even to 4x4. Never had the opportunity to get up in a 'copter, though.

Plenty of other beautiful places off the track in Australia eg

The Pilbara,
The escarpment country of the Top End
The Macdonnell Ranges
Kings Canyon
Lamington National Park
the Dandenongs
SW Tasmania
Daintree
Cairns Hinterland
the NSW High Country
etc


Now there's a 'Australian' movie "Man from Snowy River"

I cringe mainly because Baz has made a movie not about Australia for Australians but rather a mega-commercial to flog off to the Europeans and the Americans...

I think that you believe it to be a mega commercial flog off because of the name. I think the name sucks indeed but the idea behind it is sound.

It is the nature of 'beautiful' scenery.

Mind you there is a big difference between from looking at places from the convienence of a 'copter and actually being in it. That's some tough country that would kill you in a couple days (unless you're the Bush Tucker Man). Why do you think Northern Australians aren't speaking Indonesian right now?.
