I agree with you about 90% - cowboy movies, the Exorcist and you are abolutley right on the best ever cop movie: Heat. The best ever, have watched it over 15 times - Pacino.

Comedy - one of the best has to be My Cousin Vinny, a real classic.
Western - no-one mentioned The Magnificent Seven.
Courtroom drama - agree with RF on Twelve Angry Men.
Best horror - The Haunting (the original version, not that ghastly remake)
