Movies that didn't stand the test of time

I was reading the Stephen King thread and noticed a few movies that I liked when I was a kid in the 80's (I was born in 1973), but am wondering if I would like them today. For example, Silver Bullet and Christine were great back then, but I am not convinced they would be watchable today.

For example, I saw Aliens just the other day. Still a decent movie, original in many ways but something happened between 1986 and now that lost its appeal. Maybe it is the unnecessary director's cut version that put me off. For the record, I think the little girl (Carrie Henn, never made a career) in the movie was amazing.

    Any other examples?

I recently rewatched a few horror classics,...Rosemary's Baby and Halloween to name a couple. Although I enjoyed revisiting them (brought back some memories of my childhood), the girls didn't find them particularly scary and they had certainly lost some of that original appeal for me. There are others,...I'll have to think on it budda

    The Porkies franchise.

    The National Lampoon franchise.

    The Police Academy franchise.

Nearly every drama from the 1980s that is set in the 1980s.
Waste of a decade that was.

Halloween is still pretty decent considering it was made on 300k budget.

    Have you seen it lately?

I was really young when I saw Critters and I liked it. Saw it not too long ago and I couldn't believe how bad it was. Tremors is so bad now it's painful to watch. At least Critters makes me laugh.

How about Planet of the Apes (original).

I was watching "Back To The Future part 2" the other day. I found it funny that in 2025 they are using faxes to send messages! "McFly Your Fired!" No Blackberries,no cell phones,e-mail.This film was shot in 1991.Not alot of fore sight into this movie, however the hydrating pizza hydrator was cool.

One question regarding Tremors: What was it that you liked about it in the first place?

And I don't mean that there was nothing to like about it when it was released, simply trying to ascertain what is different now from your perspective.

Nightmare on Elm Street. Excellent in its day - I was a teen at the time - but totally unwatchable now.

Planet of the Apes is still class.

I've seen this film quite a few times and always enjoy it. Yes, it's corny, cliched etc, but there's some kind of chemistry there and it's all pretty much tongue in cheek.

I particularly like the married couple who have that private arsenal and act like a couple of marines.
