If I was stuck on a desert island and really needed 5 movies that could keep me entertained forever and ever, I'd go with these.
In any order.

1. Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.magical, impossible to get bored.
2. The Shawshank Redemption. Gets me every single time I watch it and I have watched it a lot.
3. The Usual Suspects. Being stuck on a desert Island might give me the chance to understand the ending.
4. The Great Debaters, a surprise entry but if you haven't seen this Denzel Wasjington tear jerker based on an all black american debate team giving harvard a true finale thrashing. love it..... wholly underated.
5, The Wizard of Oz. no desert island experience would be complete without it.

I could watch those 5 movies forever and be relatively happy.

2 - Shawshank Redemption - I too cannot get enough of this movie.
3 - High Plains Drifter - Only Eastwood can kill half a dozen men and rape a woman in the first five minutes of a film and still be considered the "hero."
4 - Princess Bride - Anybody want a peanut?
5 - Death Wish - Being stranded on a desert island might bring out the old Bronson rage.
