Last year in Sri Lanka....

I'm standing with Faizal, a village leader in the Kirinda, south
east coast. Totally destroyed in the tsunami. He's a Muslim,
but took on the task to manage and support this camp full of
Buddhists because he had friends there and he's like that. Very
rare in Sri Lanka tough. Actually ran for Parliment after I left
but didn't get it. Plus family and an American volunteer I roped
in for this camp. Those months at the camp was the worst and
best time of my life. I certainly got fit there. I'm not always looking so
rugged...

I can't seem to resize this one but that's me at the Taj w/ my stepmother.
One more....

This is up in Kandy, capital of the interior, the hillcountry. I went up to
support a buddy who was ordaining as a Buddhist monk there.
He didn't last but 3 months though and is back at Dartmouth
now, working on a cure for diabetes. Prolly better in the end.
These guys were attendants to the monks. If you are
ever in Kandy, do go to "The Pub" right down the street
from the lake, across from KFC. An oasis. You can tell I'd been
roughing it look at the burnt out face.
