Do you get angry when you go to a restaurant or a shop and they don't speak English, or speak some but can't really understand you? Should you be angry? Is it self-centered and immoral to be angry?
The only time I get annoyed by unintelligible English is when it's in response to something I've said in perfectly understandable Thai.
Quite right, Cyrille. If their only fault is that they're no good at English, that's no problem. But if they are of the type whose great wisdom tells them that "He's farang, therefore he can't speak Thai", then it can be annoying.
It's when I ask them to speak slower in their mother tongue and they repeat what they said just as fast--that bugs me. Speaking English in a non-English speaking country? It tells me that it's a tourist area and therefore more expensive.
it's the drive-by thread starter!

Not at all. It's their country,
I do find it funny when I say "Pom ow gafe ron. Gafe ron tao rai krup?"...
And the guy / girl tries their best to answe in English. Struggling out a "fif twee baht" - when "ha sip" would have sufficed![]()

No, not at all. What pisses most people off is the stupidity of those who understand our Thai perfectly well but decide to annoy us by pretending they don't.
If they don't speak English that's not a problem. It's their country after all. Pillocks from here pretending not to understand people who speak their language is Chai-Mai-Dai-Mark though.

The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
