Thread: Stop The Thai Bashing!!!

I must admit, this little paragraph from an editorial from the Nation website made me smile:

I am writing this column because I feel sick and tired of the growing Thailand bashing. Yes, we are in a mess. Yes, we are living in the aftermath of a coup. Yes, we make lots of mistakes. Yes, we need time to resolve our problems. But we don't deserve this bashing because the country has yet to overcome the political divide, which is the root of all the uncertainty.

So what he/she is saying is the bashing is 100% warranted but undeserved. WTF?

"I know I bash my wife, sleep around, spend the rent money, ignore the kids...but stop calling me a bad husband! I don't deserve that!"

That's the quote that caught my eye. The current method for creating policy seems very, "Throw it against the wall and see if it sticks".

Actually, Thais should take that as a backhanded compliment...we criticise them more than China or Vietnam simply because we think they are capable of more than either.

Maybe...

I don't know about China, but Vietnam defenitely has more potential.

But we don't deserve this bashing because the country has yet to overcome the political divide, which is the root of all the uncertainty.

So when the country overcomes the political divide, LET THE BASHING BEGIN!

My special lady friend (Thai) ask me the following question last night:
"Why doesn't Thailand ask other countries to help with the violence in the south?"

Ahhh, so ignorant, yet at least she was intelligent enough to think about looking outside her country for some assistance. I hope she look into a career with the MoE.
