I'm sure this has been covered before cause there is so much positive stuff on the forum these days.
I'll tell you about my day today. got up and went down to the river to get some sand for the local temple. they are building a new image. so the more sand i get the more luck i should have, right. well things didnt turn out that lucky for me at first. my nephew and his buddy went down with me and they are pretty lazy, i sort of have to shout commands at them. anyway, got the sand in the back of the tractor and i headed up a small hill to get to the dirt road. couldnt go up, i burned the belt, totally melted. i tried to start the tractor with its crank deal, it was very tough, and the crank flew out and smacked me in the face. the thing is sharp, i grabbed at my lower cheak fearing my hand would come back painted in blood. no blood, so i did a quick tongue sweep and all my teeth were still there.
My wife showed up soon after this. so i walked teh path, got on the bike, and headed home to get two more belts. got back and figured i would back it out and go home the long way with no inclines. on the trip back you have to go thru about three water crossings. at the last one i got stuck, and the axl of the trailor broke as well. i got this thing so stuck, it was up to the engine, in the middle of a stream!
i lost my shit and started throwing my shoes and hat. my nephews looked on in fear and probably had a good laugh while i wasnt looking. my wife showed up again, good intuition that i was going to do something stupid. i had no phone on me. she called for back up in the form of p-diddy, resident give a guy a hand.
while stuck there the stone people came up behind me. this is the family that get the stone for the concrete work. two old ladies, one young, and two guys. they hopped out had a look and went to work! i didnt know where to begin. i had palm fronds stuck under the tires, and wood was floating everywhere. i tried!! anyway, they unhitched the trailor, dug out the front of the wheels, then with five people pushing(including myself), got the engine part unstuck. then we unloaded half the sand and hitched it back up and were on our way.
apparently a few years ago this family had absolutely nothing. but managed to get a little tractor and they are there everyday, workin it. my wife said as we were going down the road "her family isnt lazy, they've worked very hard for everything they have". just a positive in an otherwise negative setting. so what nice things have people done for you?
PICS!!!
here is the crank that hit me in the face.
thats me...annoyed!
the engine after it was unhitched. it was stuck up to the base of the engine.
Here is the stone people lending a helping hand. very cool.

Aquaman getting suck in the water??? Isn't that like Flash Gordon getting stuck in the mud?
Sorry Aqua, couldn't resist...should have. Good story, great picks. Glad you've got all your chompers.
I'll try to find a pic of folks helping me.
A warming story indeed.
Mines an Indian one.
Stuck in a southern Indian town with very little cash ( about 2 bucks US).As someone did credit card fraud on me. I got a really cheap dorm for the night. All the crew ( mostly very poor muslims) wanted to know why the long face. After telling them my story they all did a quick whip around and got me some dinner. The next day they presented me with a train ticket to New Deli ( 3 day journey) And they all walked me down to the station, and asked crew to look after me.A Muslim business man on the train swapped his sleeper ticket for my 3rd class ticket. ( he spent 3 nights on the floor in Peasant class) Each stop someone would give me some food and smokes. Got to Deli and a bloke help me find a bank where I had money wired to , and then took me to my friends who's address I had forgotten.
^you mean the last guy was a psychic?
...good luck, indeed!
...majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd...
I explained some of the land marks near my friends house to him and whilst walking the area we bumbed into to my friend in the street.
Aquaman you're a lucky man to have good folks around. Whenever the locals "help" I have to pay money. My gf insists.
nice story aqua...no more close up pic please its kinda scarey.![]()
I appreciate that. just wanted to capture my frustration. dirty, sweaty, just hit in the face witha sharp crank(sure thats happened to you before). not a vanity shot!!

you are lucky that u didnt get a cuts on the face or getting hit on the eyes.
off topic-my brother ride the same bike as u..but its honda CBR 250cc
very lucky. the thing is sharp, easily could have ripped thru my cheek and taken teeth as well.
Wife and I recently purchased some land near Sa Keaw. My wife isn't from anywhere near the area but has a good friend whose family lives in that village. Just before we left to come back to BKK the villagers gave us several gifts: 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of mangos, and a couple of reed mats (like tatami).
Very thoughtful considering that the gifts came from people who don't know us from Adam, and have considerably less money than we do. This was a wonderful welcome to the community.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no Interior Minister of Thailand's son.
I went to Thammasat library yesterday. I was looking for a book (funnily enough) and the lady at the desk was the nicest, most helpful woman I've met in ages. She couldn't do enough to help me and took 45 minutes out of her day for me.Originally Posted by Aquaman
