    Tired of the moaning?

I am referring to the many many complaining farangs who live here year after year and never leave, even though everyday there is someting else 'wrong' with Thailand. I am sick of people starting a conversation with 'The problems with Thailand is...' or 'You know what is wrong with the thai's...'

I have seen posts similar to this regarding the moaning farang, but recently I have had more than an earful from a couple of my colleagues and I am not alone.

I happen to be leaving Thailand after 1 year here next month. I have found Thailand very different from my home culture and I am going to have to fit in again when I go home. Or will I hear myself saying 'The problem with European's is...'

I loved it here even all the 'differences' from home. I know that these people roam all over the world complaining about something or another, but they have all got really boring.

Do you have to work with these people???

the answer is simple old boy, don't associate with these people. if you have to work with them then ignore them.

Are they different from 'really loud American men.' Do they have even less right to complain.
Take your own advice and stop moaning!

I see your point 'Jellybean' and yes they are definately women.

BUT, I need my chance to vent and this is my only complaint which I gladly share with you lovely supportive people.

There are also a few lovely American women working in my office but too few

Well, sounds to me like you're solving your own problem, by leaving.

I hate the massive moaners only slightly less than the people who rave about mystical Thailand all the time and say dumb shit like, "wot-why can't you and your wife and 2 kids live on 30,000 baht a month?",...if I can...

Or, "Thai teachers make 10,000 a month; you're lucky to make 30,000 baht...You're overpaid!"

Or, "I've been here 6 months and I know all about Thai people and Thai culture you don't know shit about shit"...

At least I know where the moaners are coming from; I haven't been like these other sad twats for about 10 years now.

    AS,

I find the "Thailand is the best country in the world" nonsense that my students vomit all over me much more annoying.

I have to agree with the moaners on both sides. I hope I dont fall into either.
Well, sounds to me like you're solving your own problem, by leaving.
After 1 year which was my aim, I have survived all the ups and downs of living in Thailand.
Massive difference between visiting and living in a country. I have seen all that. Good, bad and the pretty ugly. It was never a problem for me living here but my point is it seems to be terrible for so many yet they stay for different reasons:

    1. Cannot afford to go home.
    2. Cannot afford to start looking for a job at home.
    3. Attached or married to a local
    4. Cannot stand British weather (dont blame you)
    5. Allergic to potatoes
    6. Menstrual cycle prevents them from flying.
    7. Many more obvious reasons...

The Brit Embassy offered to loan my mate money so he could fly home (high on interest though!)...don't they still do this?

And it's hardly like you're going to starve in the UK, I think they'll put you up in one of them half-way homes with the ex-prisoners and that!

Bear in mind moaning is one of them things that's good to do, but shite to listen to. Best to take it with a pinch of salt as has been mentioned before it is a hobby for many of us Brits (and like you said once you get home and realise the grass isn't greener necessarily you'll be moaning once again about the UK etc.).
