The 'e' question was a typical case of sucking up to the frogs.
The Brits spell it 'concord' while the French spell it 'concorde'.
The frogs were having a bit of a spat about it and wanted the French spelling.
Eventually, Benn decided that the 'e' on the end would stand for 'entente cordiale'.
They've been shafting us ever since.
