When I was in India my neighbours used to regularly bring me bottles of water back from the Sacred Ganges, they did.
Now of course there is a great myth (at least I'm pretty sure it's a myth), that Ganges water regarless of the dead bodies and cattle floating downstream was always pure and okay to drink.
Never drank the water or was inclined to bath in the Ganges for that matter.
Anyway..back on topic......

Agreed 100%, just to go you are a braver man than me. Sri Lanka 20+ years ago was tough for me and the people I met who had been to India just died laughing. So other than stops on the way to Nepal I have never been to India save Calcutta airport.Originally Posted by russellsimpson

Ah yes. Dum Dum. Now that was a fucking shithole considering the size of Calcutta. Nothing probably improved much in those twenty or so years. When I was there a couple of years back, every single toilet on the International departure "lounge" (to use the word loosely) was..."Out of Order".![]()
I was on Burma Air, and had to wait at the plane unde the wing for shade. Then on takeoff the steward starts chanting for a successfull take off.![]()
A month after KAL 007 was shot down, I was on a plane leaving Narita to San Fran that had to be delayed because both nav computers were down....I bet those Jap techs are still alive from all the prayers that were sent their way!
Actually I heard it was five. I always boiled mine for five when I was in Cambodia and didn't want to buy the bottled stuff.Originally Posted by russellsimpson
As far as drinking Bangkok water...I drank from one of those drinking fountains that were installed near the main roads. Didn't bother me a bit. I think the fountain was part of some public service project.

Good lord no.
Bacteria and other water born illnesses are the least of one's concerns when drinking Bangkok tap water. More critical is the amount of lead one is consuming due to the lead piping which still is being used throughout the city.
bangkok water is meant to be fine.

Daniel Bedingfield claimed that his new album is what it would sound like if Sting, Stevie Wonder and Micheal Jackson were in a basement together - I haven't got the album so I'll have to imagine the sound of a blind bloke and a Geordie kicking the shit out of a pedophile.
A day later, still kicking.
Can I get a ruling? Does microwaving until really hot and bubbles forming count as boiling?
Boy, 5 minutes of that that water would be scorching.
And yes, I am from the ghetto suburbs of New England where we have to pump our own gas.

Got to laugh really, 90% of the replies are from those that refuse to drink the water, and I have no doubt that the majority of those regularly dump ice into their beer. Thawed out bacteria tends to be far more virulent than it was before freezing.
But the ice has been purified.![]()
