    what is a "cake"?

    I realize I've been reading the apparent perjorative "cake" for a while on here (alas my only exposure to honest to goodness English people -- god bless 'em) without knowing what it means exactly or where it comes from.

    My guess is that it usually means 'fruitcake,' as in "Nuttier than a fruitcake."

    If anybody feels their industry is wrongly accused, it should be the makers of fruitcakes, which are neither nutty (in North America) nor too dry. Eat 'em while they're fresh.

    It's a Brit thing. Then again, in Texas they say, "That dog won't hunt."

    What do they say in Canada that they don't say elsewhere, eh?

    Is the photo in your avatar from Jim's chubbier days? Did he baloon up to real fatso shape near the end? Or is that written "THE END!"?

    Ok, mystery over.

    Cake is a word that has entered the Ajarn Forum lexicon, ever since I reintroduced swearing filters. (which you can switch off in profile)

    Cake appears whenever the filter detects the word c.u.n.t.

    That's all...otherwise it's a kind of spongey tasty thing you get with candles on top for your birthday

    Cool!

    We have our own lexicon now. "I'm a cake, I'm a cake." (Thanks Kenk!)

    here's a few more

    doodoo = s.h.i.t.
    wink = w.a.n.k
    duck = d.i.c.k
    fruit/fruiting/fruiter = f.u.c.k (and various permutations)
    child of questionable parentage = b.a.s.t.a.r.d
    bunny = t.w.a.t.
    numismatist = p.a.e.d.o/ p.e.d.o.

    Yeah, I was trying to say that perhaps I had been a w.h.o.r.e. for my former employer, the IRS. But when I saw the swear filter telling me I had been a lady, I changed the wording.

    Ah!

    Can someone tell me again why swearing is forbidden? I don't spend enough time here so while I'm aware of the presence of filters, I don't know how they work. So if I write the word "cunt", it will be omitted or transformed by the filter?

    PB,

    Yeah, Jimbo got real big towards the end. That's what 30 beers a day will do to you. I think he weighed 250 or so. He was always naturally heavier (maybe 180 190) but he stopped eating during 65 and 66 at the beginning of it all. He was on the all-acid diet then. So he got thin for a little while, whne it counted.

    Check out that link to the 1964 film he's in as an FSU student. A real laugh. To think the guy would be a famous rock star just two years after it was made.

    Added after 4 minutes:

    OK, I see I wrote c.u.n.t. without the periods and it came out "cake". That's very stupid. Insane really. What a fucked up world.

    Swearing isn't banned, you can swear all you fucking want. If the swearing filters offend you just switch them off in your profile.

    Captain you are a fruiting bunny.

    Cheers, Louis I didn't know they were on. Must be a heavy handed defaulting.
