Since I'm currently working outside the LOS at present, I've been doing some Web searchs on Thai beers, with a view to update my knowledge-base for when I do return next year. I recently came across Beer Lao, and how people are raving about it!
I normally drink Beer Chang when I'm 'home', as no other Thai beer can match it for taste and strength (imho). Upon further research, I found that the ONLY place to find Beer Lao is in Nong Kai(near the Loas border!)
Now then, not being the type of chap to miss a chance of sampling a beer that is reportedly 'the BEST beer in Asia', does anyone know where I can get my hands on Beer Lao OUTSIDE of the Bangkok area? In particular the North-East of Thailand (Korat, Surin )?
I'm interested in buying in bulk(5 -10 cases)
Anyone have any info?

'tis a good drop, there's a Beer Lao 'Dark' as well, pretty smooth...

Every bar in Chiang Mai has had it for the past 8 months.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF 'EM.
It can be found in no less than four bars in Phuket Town. I can also get it at three restaurants on Rawai/Naiharn. For ten-fifteen baht more than Singha, I can't imagine why anyone would order anything else.

When in Laos, Beer Lao of course. However, if you're in Burma, it's easily Myanmar Beer. Traveling over to Cambodia, you'd be hard pressed to find something better than Anchor Beer. If you're in KL or Spore, you might be able to find nearly anything you'd. But when I'm at home in Phuket, the best beer I can find is bottled Chimay (Don's Mall).

Totally agree. Beer Laos dark is my favorite. worth the border hop admission price alone. A good curry at Nazims Vietienne and a beer Laos for a hundred baht. a must do in my book.

Beer Lao is undoubtedly one of the world's greatest drops.
You used to be able to get illegal duty free bottles in Nong Khai, but the authorities have clamped down on this of late. I'm sure if you ask around though...
Why not just go to Vientiane for a messy afternoon and/or evening instead?
