About TEFL Watch??...I couldn't give a toss, but I wouldn't count on him giving an accurate account of whatever truly transpired. He's much too slanted, agenda ridden and just plain reminiscent of a multi-toned, corrupted, right-wing, god-fearing, nationalistic, politician. IMHO.

The site was a great idea in theory but in practice there was a lot of waffle on there.

What I need to know about is hirers and firers and bad payers, not personal politics.

Things have been sketchy over there for the last year. Too few complaints led me to think something had gone amuck. You know damn well people are getting fired, cheated, and lied to every day.

Not a very open-minded comment though, is it? In my experience those who congratulate themselves on being open-minded usually aren't. Similar to folks who like to think themselves to be smart.

Teflwatch was a useful site, but, by it's very nature was flawed and had a negative bias. It was a forum that was set up for the express purpose of complaining!

There was a lot of useful information there, but you needed to view that information through a 'this is an unhappy person talking' filter. So, while it was useful to learn whether a school had unhappy teachers working there, you had to balance that information against the credibility of the complainer.

I'm kinda glad it closed. It was pretty slanderous against the established institutions they mocked. Unnecessarily IMO.

Since putting this up, the user claiming to be Robert Postak aka Robert Piacente aka Chris Forrester aka Matt Noble has asked me to hand over the forum to him.

This will be my first and last post on this topic. I'm not anyone else but Matt Noble, and yes, I did send a polite email asking if he was going to donate the site to another TEFL person. For some reason I spent all weekend thinking about being more creative about being a TELFer in Thailand in the future. I guess the gears were still running when I simply and innocently asked the administrator of TEFLwatch (Greg, Whitey, Etc.) to consider the idea of donating it to me.

Who would have thought that was some kind of horrible offense?

Forget this shit.

I don't think I'll ever understand how people get so wrapped up in online shit. Is there such a lack of ridiculous drama and petty vendettas in real life that we need to manufacture more?

FWIW, I have no clue why TEFLWatch closed down and I don't care, but we do need a resource like that, and I wish people could try to deal with it objectively and see beyond their own limited point of view. This relates to Qwerty2's comment as well.
