TEFLWatch takes the low road in closing its forums. In the closing note, the admin shames ajarn.com, maiking what sound like wild accusations. He then specifically names one person involved in an unrelated dispute as another primary reason for the site closing, an act that violates the site's own rules.
Despite its many flaws, the site was somewhat useful. Closing it down is totally selfish. Writing the diatribe on the site closing page seems petty to me. There were many reasonable ways to address the problems the admin felt existed - he took the most extreme. Other parts of the site are still functional. If the admin cared about teachers he would close the threads to further posting, but permit access to the useful information compiled by sincere teachers over many years.
TEFLWatch Forum - Index
TEFLWatch Forum is permanently closed. I am rather irritated that trolls have been allowed to run roughshod over this forum. This forum is closed for several reasons.
1) Too many personal attacks against me. Personal attacks against me have been condoned by Ajarn Forum. I have reported them and they remain. I can only surmise that Ajarn Forum is attempting to protect their advertisers by allowing these attacks, against their rules, to go on and on.
2) An account was made on Ajarn Forum. The account was not mine, but the account was used to make many trollish posts. Not a problem, right? Well, a moderator claimed that the account was mine. I can only surmise that an administrator on Ajarn Forum created the troll account. Why would they want to do that? To protect advertisers?
3) I have other reasons why I am closing this down and I have agreed to do a Hot Seat interview with Bangkok Phil of Ajarn.com concerning this.
Ajarn Forum needs to allow teachers to name and shame schools. As teachers get screwed in the coming several months, Ajarn Forum might feel the need to have a TEFLWatch out there, but don't let them slurch their responsibility. They make money on teachers getting jobs, they need to take the heat when those jobs turn sour.
I think we all need to be clear that all of this began because I caught a poster by the name of ------- taking money to attack teachers at ------- School and the ----- Agency. He attacked teachers who were complaining about the school and agency. Because good people didn't stand up alongside me, this resource is gone for good. Many teacher will not have the access to information that they had before. Why? Because ------- sold out his fellow teachers for a bowl of porridge.
