Had Yai in Thailand

Has anyone ever been there? Is it all it's cracked out to be?

Mini Bangkok with less hassle. Give it a whirl and then, after you've had your fill, take a ride to Songkhla and chill out.

Agree, it's a mini BK. Good night life there. Good eats. Good shopping. Thing is business has been very bad since the bombings. Many people look a little suffered these days. The restuarant where I work is not near HY but about 70% of the staff are new arrivals to our community. They all tell the same tale: no work there.

If you go there, Jon, you could camp out at gum's place .. free.

Re: Had Yai in Thailand

I spent a weekend down in songkhla a few years back. Flew to Had Yai and was only there for a day. Nice little town with a few westernish bars to hang out in......got lots of Malay influence and interesting markets to potter about in.

Re: Had Yai in Thailand

Well...There's no "big beach"

I've spent a couple of nights in Had Yai (almost 8 years ago now). I thought it was quite cool, actually. I was on a visa run with a mate, and we ended up in this Wild West-style bar, which had a live band. Then we went to this nightclub place which was dark as my soul, with the loudest music ever. It sold Chang in jugs.

It was cool.

Re: Had Yai in Thailand

Lovely place, has all one needs. Beats the boring nightlife in Songkhla. But was always nice to return to quiet Songkhla after a couple of nights hadyai.

My matey taught down that way. He enjoyed it. Enjoyed cavorting with Malaysian girls on vacation too.

Re: Had Yai in Thailand

Not suere what its like after the bombings but the times that I've been out in had yai, in terms of wild-and-craziness beat Bangkok into a cocked hat. The waitress were selling joints and speed, the sexy vocalist for the Thai bad on stage suddenly whipped off her top to reveal a second completely transparent top underneath, beer jugs and whisky bottle magically appeared on the table and most of the clubs stayed open till 6 a.m. and beyond and you could even then run down to pink lady after all this and get the cleaners to ring some lasses up to share a hot tub with ...

Happy Days.

Also got one of the best lays of my life there.
