    The Japanese eat a lot of sashimi (raw fish). That's why they're so healthy.

    Certain types of seafood accumulate more toxin than others: shellfish and the scavenger type seafood(crab, prawns, lobster). Most fish that swim have the "good" fats. On taking pills, there has to be something about nutrition that has been processed and manufactured. I feel, as with most food, the fresher the food the better it is.

    True. Fresh Food is best for you. The trouble is that as you age, your metabolism fails to extract all the goodness in your grub. Whereas, if you take a pill, you know it is being made available to those parts of your system that need it....I have taken lots of Vitamins for over 30yrs, and people say I look ten years younger than I actually am. But, like everything else, you can overdo it!

    Excessive Smoking, Alcohol and Fat in ones diet, coupled with a lack of Exercise, are the real killers......Stress too, of course.

    Can the mods/admin assigned one small section or room for Health and Fitenss ONLY?

    Being expats, we need to be even more aware and more healthy because of our cirsumstances abroad.

    If your serious about preventing heart disease, then the first thing you should do is stop eating thai food!! Especially Thai street food....All that MSG and dirty cooking oil that is used in the cooking will certainly kill you! I rarely eat Thai food (I think its crap), but on the rare occassion that I do, I'll tell the cook not to add MSG (in Thai: 'Pom-cha lord') and to use very little oil (no eggs please!).

    At home, I cook everything in extra virgin oil! Its expensive, but when it comes to food I don't play around!
