Why there are so many male teachers living and working in Thailand when there are other places they could live in Asia or the rest of the world and make more money? I think it all comes down to vagina. Whores are cheap and plentiful in Thailand, then there are also those young girls in their cute little uniforms to sample once in a while.
Anyone have thoughts on this?
I think that this matter would be better discussed over a frothy pint in the pub. Mine's a Guinness, packet of nuts too while you're there.

80% vaginas
15% exotic/freedom factor
5% thailands culture allows men to dominate
a better question is, what the hell are the female teachers (not making 80K+) thinking?
I came here for the exotic / freedom factor rather than the flange factor.
I have a couple, the bar is lower for teachers to get a start here and it's one of the few jobs that you are allowed to do as a foreigner. You have more freedom here and can be left alone. It is also a much friendlier place for a male than a female if you're going to live here. BTW I mean that as in the whole culture not your whores angle. And lastly with your attitude it would be better if you stayed in America, because of people with your way of thinking coming here to teach, life has gotten more difficult the last couple of years for us that care about what we do.
It would be interesting to know if the same kind of male/female ratio holds in the other Asian countries hosting a large number of English teachers.

I was being fascetious. Sorry if I touched a nerve Barry.
At the current exchange rate...
Teach English part time, in a tropical climate with decent prices, food, totty & freedom for 10 plus pound an hour.
Or
Work in the freezing cold UK, get fatter & see fatter for a minimum wage of what? 6 pound an hour?
I know what I would choose
Another fantastic contribution to a forum for teachers.
I think it all comes down to you not knowing what you're talking about, you're still 1/2 way around the world. Have you tried whoring on a teacher's salary?
I'm sure you're coming because of the beautiful temples right?

I came for the food, the adventure and the freedom. Coming for the girls is just part of life.
The cheap booze and 'available' women are both aspects of freedom in Thailand.
Freedom that is an illusion but a more attractive illusion than the west can be.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
